How Does Nab-Paclitaxel Work?

Nab-paclitaxel consists of paclitaxel bound to albumin nanoparticles (~130 nm). Albumin-bound paclitaxel leverages albumin transport pathways (including SPARC-mediated and gp60-mediated transcytosis) to deliver paclitaxel to tumor tissue. Once in the tumor microenvironment, paclitaxel binds beta-tubulin, stabilizing microtubules and blocking mitosis.

Dosage & Administration

Dosing depends on indication and combination regimen, determined by the oncologist based on BSA. Nab-paclitaxel does NOT require premedication for hypersensitivity prophylaxis that conventional Cremophor-based paclitaxel requires, though institutional protocols vary.
