General Rules for Missed Biologic Doses

Missed Dose Guidance by Medication

Humira (every 2 weeks)

Inject as soon as you remember if it's within a few days of your missed dose. If it's almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip and continue on your normal schedule. Never inject two doses within the same week without medical guidance.

Skyrizi (every 12 weeks)

Inject as soon as you remember. Then resume your regular 12-week schedule from the date of your missed dose injection. Contact your prescriber if you are unsure.

Rinvoq (once daily)

Take the missed dose the same day as soon as you remember. If you do not remember until the next day, skip the missed dose and resume your daily schedule. Never take two doses in one day.

Dupixent (every 2 weeks)

Inject as soon as you remember. Then resume your regular every-2-week schedule from the new date. If it is close to your next scheduled dose, ask your pharmacist.

Cosentyx (monthly)

Administer the missed dose as soon as possible within 7 days of the scheduled date. Then resume your monthly schedule from the new date.

Entyvio (every 8 weeks IV)

Contact your gastroenterologist and infusion center as soon as possible to reschedule your missed infusion. Do not skip infusions without medical guidance.

A single missed dose is unlikely to cause an immediate flare for most patients, since biologic medications have long half-lives that maintain some drug levels in your body for days to weeks after a dose. However, consistently missing doses can reduce disease control over time. If you notice worsening symptoms after a missed dose, contact your prescriber.
