How Does BEP Regimen Work?

BEP combines three mechanisms: Bleomycin (DNA strand breaks via reactive oxygen species), Etoposide (topoisomerase II inhibitor), and Cisplatin (DNA crosslinks). Together they produce synergistic cytotoxicity in germ cell tumors, which are highly sensitive to platinum-based chemotherapy.

Dosage & Administration

Standard BEP: Bleomycin 30 units IV days 1, 8, 15; Etoposide 100 mg/m² IV days 1–5; Cisplatin 20 mg/m² IV days 1–5. Repeat every 21 days for 3–4 cycles. Pulmonary function must be monitored due to bleomycin toxicity.
